Winemaker Jed Steele’s career in wine began in 1968 when he was hired as a “cellar rat” by the McCreas for their Stony Hill Winery in Napa Valley. He went on to obtain his MS in Enology at UC Davis. He then served as Winemaker and Vineyard Manager at Edmeades in Anderson Valley for eight years before being tapped to serve as the Head Winemaker for a brand-new winery, Kendall-Jackson. Their Chardonnay became a favorite of First Lady Nancy Reagan, who served it at the White House. After nine years at a rapidly growing corporation, he was ready to return to small-batch winemaking. He founded his namesake boutique winery in Lake County in 1991.
