“Our history of family winemaking goes back for generations in Sonoma County,” says Owner/Winemaker Scot Bilbro. “Both of my brothers are winemakers, my father was a winemaker, his uncle was a winemaker. Scot’s father, Chris Bilbro, a self-taught winemaker, founded Marietta Cellars in 1978. Scot grew up at the beautiful Geyserville winery, and joined the team a week after graduating from U.C. Davis with a scientific winemaking degree. After Chris retired, Scot took the reins with the help of their year-round “everything” crew. “We farm 310 acres of vineyards,” notes Scot. “We have our own foreman, vineyard manager, mechanic, and permanent crews out in the field and at the winery. We are a start-to-finish, wholly enclosed entity.”
